What is a Vision Board?

A vision board is a compilation of carefully selected and curated images, which are representative of your goals, intentions and dreams. Vision boards are essentially a collage of images that are meaningful and signify something that you are striving and/or working towards.

If you know anything about the law of attraction or perhaps you’ve seen the movie “The Secret” (available on Netflix if you haven’t seen it-I definitely recommend it), then you know that vision boards are often used as a tool for manifestation. Whether you believe in the power of manifestation or not, I think it’s an important exercise for everyone to engage in. It allows you to reflect on what is important to you and what you’d like to accomplish in your life.

Take a moment. Reflect and write down what is most important to you.

The possibilities are endless!

So, if you’ve made the decision that you’d like to make a vision board…you can start creating it!

In my experience, there are two main ways to create a vision board: crafting one yourself or creating it online. My personal preference is to physically create it because I love having the tangible board.

Option 1:  Get crafty & physically make your vision board (canvas, images, glue and scissors). It is important to select images that are meaningful to you, whether they are photos you’ve taken yourself or images that spark an emotion within you. I also recommend sitting with each image and reflecting on why it is meaningful for you. Visualize your life and what each image means in the bigger picture.

Pinterest is an incredible tool to find amazing images. My most recent vision board is made up of several images from Pinterest. I’ve also made collages from images from magazines or travel brochures.

Option 2: Create a collage digitally (the website canva is a great tool for this!). With your digital vision board, I recommend making the collage the background of your phone or laptop so every time you check your phone/laptop you have to look at it.

One thing to note, it is important to select images that you genuinely believe are possible. You want to believe that whatever the image is, is attainable. For example, I have many images of European cities that I intend on travelling to one day, and there is no doubt in my mind that it will happen. The key is having the strong belief, despite not knowing the how or when.

Finding Space for your Vision Board:

It is important to place your vision board somewhere where you will see it regularly. My vision board is the first thing I see in the morning and the last thing I see when I go to bed. And because I’ve carefully selected images that spark joy and are meaningful to me and my goals, my vision board is also a tool for gratitude.

Now that you’ve curated this incredible vision board, you need to continue to visualize your dream life. Visualize yourself daily on the vacation, in your dream home, working your dream job, spending time with your dream partner etc.

Take the time to reflect.

Get clear on your dreams and vision for your life.

Find images that spark joy and are representative of those dreams.

Remind yourself daily of your dreams and use those images as a reminder of what you are working towards.

As always, I am rooting for you. ✨

About Ashley:

Ashley is on a journey to truly becoming her authentic self. A journey to self-love, wellness, gratitude & living her life to the fullest. If Ashley isn’t working on her blog, you can find her outside in nature. She might be on a hike, out kayaking, paddle boarding, meditating/doing yoga or sitting on the grass reading.

Project Authentically Me was a journey I set on a little over a year ago. Much like many people in their early to mid 20’s, I was feeling lost and disconnected. I longed to feel worthy and whole, so I began this movement…the movement to discovering my authentic self.

I set out to discover my passions, find what lights my soul on fire, let go & heal from past experiences, experience personal and spiritual growth and most importantly be unapologetically myself. I believe so strongly that we are all worthy and capable of anything we set our minds to, provided we believe in ourselves and let go & heal from past experiences.

My Instagram and my blog are truly my creative outlets, they provide me the opportunity to share my experiences and the many lessons I’ve learned ( & continue to learn). My intention for these platforms is to create a safe, positive and uplifting space focused on healing, self-love, gratitude and empowerment.
