Calling all my ladies … this is a touchy topic am I right?
I can admit to looking into a mirror at least once a day (let’s be real, more like at least once an hour!) There is always a time when I think to myself about one way that I wish I could alter or change my body. Sometimes the thought is about something I wish I had. Sometimes that thought it about what I want to change.
“I wish I had a bigger butt.” “I wish I was skinner.” “I wish I had curves. “I wish my nose was thinner.” I wish I wish I wish… blah blah blah.
To the men reading my post, I know negative body image thoughts cross your mind on a daily basis too!
We all are aware, women especially, of the societal norms of the idea of beauty. Society tricks us into believe that physical appearance is EVE-RY-THING. But I’m here to remind you that it’s 100% not!
No matter your age, weight, height, skin colour, body type, orientation, or gender, there had to be at least one time when you felt dissatisfied with your physical image.
How can you step away from the criticism and start accepting the bomb body that you DO have? Follow my few tips of how to be satisfied with the skin you’re in!
Positive Affirmations
I want you to literally look at yourself in the mirror, smile, and say a compliment out loud. A single daily positive affirmation will leave a great impact on your self-esteem. You don’t need the affirmations of others to boost your confidence! You can boost your own confidence and support yourself!
Remind Yourself of What You DO Love
I love my eyes. That’s a fact. What part of your body do you love the most about yourself? Forget change. Forget the criticism. Think about the parts that you already love and would never want to change. Love those parts.
Don’t Compare
COMPARISON IS EVIL. Comparison of your body to someone else is ridiculous because everyone has their own unique DNA combination, therefore, every body is literally different. EVERY. BODY. IS. DIFFERENT. Metabolism is different, fat storage is different, bone size is different, body composition is different…. it all is unique to you so why compare?
Get up & Do
Lastly, this is a bit of a touchy spot but it’s the honest truth. If you don’t like something then change it. I don’t support facial or plastic surgery at all, but if you can alter your body in a healthy and natural way then I’m all for it. If a bit of change will make you feel confident in the end, then go for it! Workout, eat healthy, and get those results.
_______
Self-love is about loving your full self inside and out! Rock the body you have! Own it! Flaunt it!
You can’t criticize yourself if you love your full self.
Love the skin you’re in and I promise you that you’ll be closer to loving yourself and living your life to the fullest every day.
